The tragic loss of an earlier child evidently caused her to lose her marriage and cast an overbearing watchful eye on her 20 year old (played by upcoming star Brenton Thwaites - Maleficent, Oculus, The Giver, Blue Lagoon: the Awakening, Son of a Gun) who is also an aspiring writer. Really enjoyed Ride. This one's going straight to my local charity shop . And life does not explain everything to us. There was the issue of both of their lives needing further examination at a critical point in those lives. The preview is why I bought it but the preview was better than the movie. So she hired a guy. The characters sucked. Actually, the actor playing Helen's son (Brenton Thwaites - worth considering a more suitable stage name methinks) had the most appeal for instantly obvious reasons. The writer, director, and star’s first documentary, “Walking to Werner,” chronicled his 1,200-mile walk to meet Werner Herzog, and now he’s back with the new short-form series, “While “The Ride” is a scripted comedy, it too emerged from a true story about Phillips’ daily grind — as executive producer “Linas had been Lyft driving since recently moving back to L.A. a couple years ago — and not loving it,” Duplass said. He yelled at her for many things and included not knowing how to surf and the freedom it gave. Anyway, the appeal stopped there because the script is tired, there's no chemistry at all between Helen and her leading man. The other was that it looked like a mother/son issues movie and that resonated with what I was particularly dealing with at the time.
